Mustang in 2005......

After burning up local tracks from 1993-1999 and finishing as
Track Champion at Carolina Dragway in 1999, The "Iron Man" Jamie Walker from Waynesboro, Georgia took a break
from racing due to work commitments. Walker bought a 1982 Mustang from Mr. Furman Pyles from
Clinton, S.C. in Febuary of 2005. Walker (having not raced in 5 years) test drove the car with an .011 reaction time and the
car running a 6.99 in the 1/8 mile at 98mph ...... Walker then replied "I'll take it" .....
And from there on the madness began! Walker then formed the team "Iron Man Racing"..... Walker finished in the finals at the
I.H.R.A. Division 9 Event at Carolina Dragway in only his 2nd race out with the new car. Walker
then finished off the season placing 3rd in points and winning the 2005 "points shoot out race" (in a borrowed car from Phil
and Betty Cooley - Anderson, S.C.) that featured the "top 16 finishers in points" in both footbrake and Pro
in an "all run shoot-out" ...... This win earned Walker a brand new Haulmark "Edge" Enclosed trailer. In 2006 Walker's
long time friend "Greg Murray" from Ninety Six,
S.C., helped with MANY changes to the car such as changing over to a powerglide
transmission and making adjustments on a new set-up. Also "Big Daddy" - Fred Campbell from
Aiken, S.C. helped with getting a solid Pro-gear in the rear end of the car, to handle the pressure Walker was applying. Jimmy
Gossett and Chad Campbell from Aiken, S.C. helped with "updating" the 82 body to
a 93 GT Scheme, and helped through-out the racing season. Tim Timmerman and Mr. Furman
Pyles from Clinton, S.C. have made a "CONSIDERABLE IMPACT", according to Walker, on his
success in 2007. Walker recorded an average of 15 wins per year and finished 2007 winning the "Track
Championship" at Carolina Dragway and posting 18 wins and 24 top 5 finishes, at tracks in Georgia,
South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama and Florida. Walker also won the 2007 "Ultimate Doorslammer" in
the "No-Box" class at Jefferson Pageland Dragway in S.C. Walker placed 3rd at the "Footbrake Nationals"
in Montgomery, Alabama in 2007 as well. Walker was also ranked as high as #2 in the Nation in the
2007 I.H.R.A. Summit Super Series during the season. Walker says "he can't thank
his friends and Sponsors enough" for helping him accomplish what he loves to do the most - "DRAG RACE" Walker's
race team continues to work hard, to make it to the next level in the sport ......
